On the first day of Donald Trump’s second term, he pardoned every single rioter who attempted to overthrow our democracy on January 6th, 2021. According to Axios, after growing tired with the long debate over which of the 1,000+ criminals to let free, Trump just said:
“Fuck it: Release ‘em All.”
Since then, at least three have been charged with sex crimes. Another was shot and killed after refusing to comply with officers in a routine traffic stop. Not to be defeated, however, by the one who killed a woman while driving drunk down the freeway months after storming the Capitol in 2022.1 And, according to NPR, dozens of the pardoned traitors had previous criminal convictions before their failed revolution, with many convicted of violent crimes and rape or sexual assault. People who participated in the January 6th insurrection are some of Trump’s most die-hard supporters.
They are also perverts, criminals, and losers.
Enter: PedoCon
In recent months, a new theory has been circulating online dubbed PedoCon. The basic idea is that a not insignificant portion of the modern-day Republican Party’s “big tent” is basically just a gathering place for sexual assaulters, pedophiles, and other assorted sex pests. A kind of jobs program for the worst guy in all your classes, rather than a serious political movement. They climb to high ranks in the party and use their power to pray on unwitting victims and protect their colleagues. It is not clear who coined the term, but its usage has picked up steam in the months since Trump was sworn in.
Beyond his tacit approval of releasing known pedophiles and sexual assaulters from prison by refusing to even consider prior convictions in his mass pardon, Trump’s cabinet is filled with some terrible characters. Trump’s Sectary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has multiple prior domestic abuse allegations which almost sunk his nomination. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.— aside from his rampant conspiracy theories and lack of any medical knowledge — is a serial-cheater whose ex-wife (allegedly) killed herself not long after finding a diary filled with dozens of entries about all the women he had slept with over the course of their marriage, something he even had the gall to blame on her. Those are two high profile examples of this trend, but the list goes on and on, with numerous Republican members of the House of Representatives facing accusations of sexual assault, including Former Congressman and one-time pick for Attorney General Matt Gaetz, who was accused of statutory rape by an official Congressional report.
It is, of course, no wonder that Trump, an adjudicated rapist and known womanizer, would attract so many sex-pests into his legion. It stands to reason that if the King is a creep, his court will be as well.
PedoCon gets to the heart of the contradictions which are ever present in the MAGA community. They constantly talk about how queer people are “groomers',“ or claim Drag Queens are coming into classroom to assault children, and go to great lengths imparting the idea in their voters minds that the democratic party supports or even encourages these imagined crimes, all while being the party which is full of members who actually do groom children or assault women.
Some of this hypocrisy got the administration in a bit of trouble a few weeks ago. For years, Americans have demanded the release of the so called “Epstein Files” which supposedly contain information on everyone who participated in or covered up his crimes. While existence of a “smoking-gun” collection of files that the government has just been sitting on seems, well, unlikely at best, Trump ran a campaign promising radical transparency, and the destruction of The Deep State, so in March, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced she would be releasing the “Epstein Files.” It was really quite a scene to behold, Bondi invited some of the most popular right-wing influencers (including my personal favorite, DC Draino)2 to The White House and gave them a binder literally labeled “The Epstein Files Phase 1.”3 Inside were heavily redacted files containing information that were mostly already public.
Outrage ensued, with the influencers themselves expressing shock at this worthless drop. Bondi claims there are elements of the FBI who do not want to release the files to her, and that she is fighting against these rouge elements every day. The DOJ is now in a mad-dash to get the files out to appease Trump’s rabid cult. The real reason no new information about Epstein will ever be released by the Trump Administration is of course that Trump is all over Epstein’s crimes, was close friends with him for decades, and allowed him to use Mar-A-Lago to prey on young women.
The hypocrisy is not just present in Trump’s aides and officials, but in his supporters as well. Let’s remember: While January 6th happened for a lot of reasons, a huge contributing factor in the coup-attempt was the online conspiracy theory QAnon. An offshoot of the “PizzaGate” conspiracy, followers of QAnon believe, in essence, that for decades, The Deep State has been in cahoots with a league of satanic cannibalistic child molesters who traffic kid sex slaves with the implicit approval of the government. According to QAnon followers, Donald Trump is the only person fighting against this cult, and his loss in the 2020 election was staged by The Deep State so they could keep having sex with kids. Thus, they had to storm the capitol, obviously.
You know, to save the kids!
Anons, as they are known, have created an entire world-view based around fighting sex trafficking by associating themselves with a President who couldn’t care less. While QAnon has died down in the past four years, the ideas that it spawned have basically just morphed into typical MAGA bullshit, with the GOP vaguely accepting a mainstreaming of fringe QAnon theories.
A Group of Perverts (GOP)
The modern-day GOP is comprised mostly of insecure, small men who go around all day claiming other people are responsible for their crimes. PedoCon is just an extension of that, and for whatever reason, they keep proving it true. Just last month, Republican Minnesota State Senator Justin Eichorn, known for his virulent anti-trans hate and attempt to classify “Trump Derangement Syndrome” as an officially recognized mental illness, was charged with soliciting sex from a minor.
The bottom line here is that every accusation the GOP throws at us is really just a confession. And while PedoCon is only a theory, its a theory much in the same way that gravity is. So far, its only proven itself correct.
I think his name is funny, and it amuses me that he gave up being a highly paid lawyer to, well, do this.
